Holy time flew by batman!!! LOL I've been meaning to post and then well if you haven't figured out by the title of this blog time is a struggle for me lol but I'm going to try and post more often, so yeah lucky for you you'll get more of me and all this hotmess mom goodness lol
So today's post is all about dinner and how I cooked and made it, I'm going to apologize right now, I cook like my Gfunk (grandmother who was too funky to be called grandma lol) did, no measuring just a dash of this, mixing together and adding til it tastes right, I used to curse her when I needed a recipe of hers because she would say just a dash of this, in fact, for my wedding I requested just a cookbook of hers that had specific measurements lol. I luckily received one and cherish it so much, but I'm realizing it's a lot easier to cook with a dash of this and a mix of that lol.

So often when I cook I’m doing as she did and don’t really want to take them time to measure out and write down in case it doesn’t work out (also it jams up my creative juices lol) but then I regret it when I make a hit like these ribs were tonight and want to share and remake them again! So I’m gonna make sure I try and measure out things from now on......
A side note, I'm not a fan of ribs (I feel like its way to much mess and effort for the amount of meat you get lol), my hunka hunka however LOVES ribs so when our local store had some on sale I picked them up and decided to give it a go and here's what I came up with!! The next time I make them, I'll measure ingredients and update but the nice thing is I'm giving you the basics and then you can add more or less as your tastebuds see fit :)
FTMPM RIBS:
Country style pork ribs (6lbs)
2 cans of Dr. Pepper (this is my go to liquid with any pork recipe)
Smoked paprika (seriously this season is a hidden gem, I used it in one recipe over a year ago and didn't know its delicious powers before then, now I use it a lot!)
Garlic salt
Maple syrup
Put the ribs in a crockpot (mine were frozen, very typical in my house, it's kind of the FTMPM way ;)) pour one can of Dr. Pepper over it and then sprinkle ribs with smoked paprika and garlic salt, crockpot should be on high for 6 hrs.
Around hour 3 add second can of Dr. Pepper.
At the end of 6 hrs, pull out ribs, be careful as they are fall of the bone tender at this point! Place on a baking sheet with parchment paper (seriously such a mess saving life saver!! I use it whenever I'm putting anything in the oven :)) and give each one a good slather of the "rub" below, place in a 400 degree oven re-slathering every 10-15 min (or as "rub" has been cooked into ribs) do this for 45 min. Then pull out and be prepared for rib heaven!!
“Rub”
Smoked paprika and season salt and maple syrup make into a liquidy paste
This recipe got the ribs in the sweet spot for me, super flavorful, not messy and just fall of the bone so you get ALL the meat with little effort!!! My son asked for more, my brother in law took home leftovers and hunka hunka said to put it on the list (I keep a list of new recipes that he loves so I have a go to, for dinner time!) all in all it was a great dinner, the food made being surrounded by the ones I love so much even better.
Try it out and let me know how it works for you!!!
Until next time!! All my love -T-
